The Differences that Matter

My business is built on two premises that, when met, help ensure a client is fully committed to supporting the coaching or consulting effort, and invested in reaching their objectives.

  1. Consulting: The pain of maintaining the status quo must far exceed the pain of taking action + the benefits received must far exceed the investment.
  2. Coaching: The desire for progress and self-growth must far exceed the discomfort of receiving help + the achievement of goals must far exceed the financial investment. (Value of Coaching: Justifying the Investment)

Regardless of the size of the consulting or coaching firm, you are ultimately working with people, each with different styles, benefits and strengths. Therefore, finding the right fit is critical. My commitments, values and unique abilities form the basis for ensuring that right fit, and when evaluated independently or as a whole represent the differentiators that, I believe, set me apart.

  1. Partners with You
You need a steadfast, trusted partner who is objective and professional while also being totally focused on helping you achieve the results you want. By identifying and then helping you remove internal and external limitations, and by providing different perspectives, I can help you address your most complex challenges while keeping you focused on your goals.
  2. Values Clarity
With a high-tech and business career spanning more than 35 years across various industries, I have the ability to quickly establish the fundamental issues (consulting) and/or help you uncover the hidden truths (coaching) that support business and professional success, and personal growth. I provide clarity at every step to create understanding and consensus, ensure the path forward is efficient and meaningful, and the results long lasting.
  3. Respects Time
Time is our most precious resource and my focus is on results – not filling time. If a session ends early or if we achieve your goals sooner than expected, then there is no pressure to continue. In consulting or coaching, my success only comes from meeting your objectives, not from the number of hours spent on a project or together. In consulting, I will meet you and your team on your ground to minimize wasted time. In coaching, I will not ask you an infinite stream of questions. Instead, we will explore issues and growth opportunities and if faced with a true unknown-unknown, I will augment your experience with my own domain knowledge or insights.
  4. Respects Your Experience
Though I may be hired as a subject matter expert for consulting, your and your team’s domain knowledge, experience and buy-in are the key ingredients for success. Consulting success comes from working alongside your team to augment their abilities – not replace them. In coaching, there is no greater expert on you than you. Coaching success comes from working beside you to help you open up various paths and follow the ones that work best for and matter most to you.
  5. Communicates with Intent
You can expect our interactions to be direct and focused on your future success. While understanding the past has its place, I favor a forward-focused approach that establishes where we are now in order to develop plans and strategies to reach your stated goals. I am highly adaptable with a style that is down to earth, relaxed and cooperative while also being inquisitive, analytical and creative. In consulting this means I’ll get a holistic picture of the situation, challenge limiting assumptions, establish buy-in to the proposed solution and help you and your team execute. In coaching this means I will adjust my style and methods to help you uncover the root limiting belief(s) or blind spot(s), so you can adapt and change to reach your desired goals.
